Where have we been?

Busy doing this...

We finished the yard! I am so thrilled with how it turned out. Ty decided to do everything himself after we got a few bids and realized how expensive it could be. We started the work, and by we I mean Ty, on Easter weekend. Ty's parents came down to help. We soon realized we needed the wall up before we could get anything done. We did hire the wall people out but Ty was out there working with them the whole time because he wanted to learn how to do it for the other side of the yard. (since our garage is in the back it splits our yard into two sides) After the wall went up Ty did all the curbing. He learned how to mix and lay concrete. Pretty impressive right? But there's more! After the curbing we started the digging of the trenches for the sprinklers. My parents came down and helped us with that. Then came the thoughtful process of figuring out where to place the sprinklers and work on the electrical. Ty's parents came down again to help with this. After the sprinklers were in came the loads of dirts and the moving of the dirt. I felt as though Ty was moving dirt around for a week to get everything level. Once level Ty installed the drip line for all the plants and trees. Then we all headed to the nursery to pick out plants, which was very overwhelming! Then we planted, laid a weed liner and arranged the rock. After the planters were done came the laying of the sod. I think I got it all! Ty had never done any of this before. He watched lots of youtube videos and talked to lots of neighbors and friends. He really did do an amazing job.

 I should add that we have awesome neighbors. They were always willing to help.

 Now we will be busy relaxing on the porch.
