Birth Story

I ended up getting induced with Gwen. I had scheduled the induction but thought I would go on my own for sure since I was dilated to a 4 and 90% effaced for over a week. But Gwen was not ready  to come on her own. The hospital called me at 5:30 am on Saturday November 30. They said to come in in a hour to have our baby.
FUN FACT: Gwen shares a birthday with Gramps, my dad. And also with her great great grandma, my dad's moms mom. Pretty fun!
I had been so worried about what we would do with Ivy if I were to go into labor so it was so nice to have it planned out. My family was just a few minutes away in the condo they rented so we got ready and dropped Ivy off to them and made our way to the hospital.
I got all checked in and hooked up. I was at a six when we got there so they started me on Pitocin right away. I went ahead and got the epidural soon there after because I didn't want to miss my window of opportunity. I was most afraid for the epidural and it was not bad at all! I started getting numb right away so Ty and I decided to try and get some rest while we waited. Ty was able to get some sleep but I was too excited. After a few hours I started feeling lots of pressure I knew we had to be getting close. I could feel the contractions just enough to know it was coming but it was not too painful, so it was perfect! They came in and checked me and said it was time. They asked if I remembered how to push. They gave me a brief review and I pushed with the next contraction. Gwen's head was already crowning at this point. My doctor walked in right after that and I gave him one short push and Gwen arrived. It was so fast!

I could not believe how much she looked like Ivy that first time I saw her. She was so perfect and so so small. The doctor pulled her out and laid her on me. Such and special moment! She was crying a little bit but not a ton. She seemed so content and happy to finally be with mom and dad.
