Ford Reunion

Another Ford Reunion has came and gone. My mom's family does this reunion every two years with all her sibling. It really is a great tradition. We should get together more often but it's hard with such a large family. I always look forward to this reunion and I knew the kids would love it since its outdoorsy and there's so many kids to play with. This year we decided to be adventurous and camp instead of staying in the cabin with everyone. Usually the cabin is pretty packed with all the family. This year was not as bad but we thought the kids would enjoy it. And they did!
The reunion was pretty laid back which was nice and pretty rare for our family. Usually there's so many planned activities but with so many little ones around they thought it best to just chill. It was great that way. The girls just explored outside and played their little hearts out with all the cousins. It really is the best and sweetest thing to see your kids play with their cousins. They form such a sweet bond together.

As soon as we got there the kids just ran off to do their thing. Even Gwen got in there and played with all the "big kids." It was so nice to actually be able to visit with all my cousins. We stayed up late and played games and all laughed our heads off.
We hadn't been there long when a few of girls cane to get me because Ivy was crying because she stepped in "mud." I came to rescue and discovered it was cow poop. It was all up her leg and her flip flop was just sitting in the poo pile. I about died! We cleaned up and were as good as new, but I had to get a picture. Gross I know!

There was lots of four wheeling, tag, hide and go seek and exploring the maze as the kids called it, which was the horse kennels.
My aunt had planned a little family history workshop that all the kids participated in. They even got to dress up as pioneers. And we finished it out with a marshmallow war. It was a hit with the kids and adults too!

The second day we decided to venture to the lake. Something that in most years we don't do. But some cousins brought  kayaks and we thought it would be fun to get out of the cabin. We didn't bring the girls swim suits but that did not stop Ivy. She jumped right in the lake and kayaked and fished. She is my outdoorsy girl. Gwen was not a huge fan. She actually had a rough few days there. She was tired and out of sorts but all and all she did okay.  She was a trooper and of course a cutie!

We sure love the Ford reunion. Until next time...
